How a Steel Pole Electric Fence Works
Galvanised steel corner, gate and strainer posts are concreted in and braced to carry the full wire tension. Intermediate line posts are set at close, even intervals to keep the strands rigid and hard to spread.
Because steel conducts, every strand is carried on high-voltage insulators fixed to the post. This keeps the pulse on the wire and lets the steel framework act as a strong, stable support.
An IEC 60335-2-76 certified energizer pulses the fence about once per second. Tall security designs use alternating live and earth strands so that anyone climbing through is shocked reliably.
The fence can be split into zones, each monitored for cuts, shorts and voltage drops. Alarms go to a siren, guard house, CCTV system or monitoring centre so the right section is checked.
System Capabilities
Hot-Dip Galvanised Posts
Corrosion-protected steel posts that stay straight and rigid for years, including at the coast and in humid areas.
Concrete Foundations
Posts set in concrete footings for stability on soft ground and against deliberate pushing or levering.
Tall Security Profiles
Fence heights up to 3 m with closely spaced strands, optionally angled at the top to resist climbing.
High-Voltage Insulators
Durable insulators on every live strand prevent leakage into the steel framework.
Zoned Alarm Monitoring
Multi-zone energizers report which section was cut or shorted, linked to sirens, CCTV or a control room.
Combined Barriers
Can run alongside chain-link, palisade or razor wire for a layered physical and electric barrier.
Benefits of Automation
- Maximum strength and rigidity for high-security perimeters.
- Galvanised steel resists rust and termites — no rot, long service life.
- Clean, professional appearance for commercial and institutional sites.
- Hard to push over, cut through or climb without raising an alarm.
- Zoned monitoring sends security straight to the breached section.
- Integrates with CCTV, access control and existing alarm systems.
