How Farm & Game Electric Fencing Works
Animals learn to respect an electric fence as a psychological barrier. Strand heights are set to the animals involved — low strands for goats, sheep and small predators, higher strands for cattle, and tall multi-strand designs for large wildlife.
An energizer sized for the fence length, strand count and vegetation load sends a high-voltage pulse about once per second. On farms, mains or solar energizers are common; on game fences, high-output solar systems with large battery banks keep long lines live off-grid.
Game fences add features farm fences don't need: heavier posts, outriggers that keep elephants off the posts, short 'trip' fences in front of the main line, and buried mesh to stop animals digging under.
Fence monitors along the line report voltage drops by section, so a broken wire, fallen tree or animal breakage can be found and repaired quickly.
System Capabilities
Livestock Fencing
Boundary, paddock and night-boma fences for cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and poultry, with strand spacing to match each species.
Predator Deterrence
Low live strands and close spacing to keep hyena, jackal, leopard and stray dogs away from livestock.
Game & Wildlife Fencing
Tall multi-strand fences with outriggers and buried mesh for elephant, buffalo and other large wildlife.
Solar & Off-Grid Power
Solar panels, charge controllers and deep-cycle batteries sized to keep long fences live through cloudy spells.
Steel & Timber Posts
Treated timber for economical farm runs; galvanised steel or heavy-duty posts where animal pressure is high.
Section Monitoring
Zone or section monitors so fence crews know which stretch is down, instead of walking the whole line.
Benefits of Automation
- Reduces livestock losses to predators and theft.
- Protects crops from elephant, buffalo and other wildlife raids.
- Cuts human–wildlife conflict along park and forest edges.
- Supports controlled and rotational grazing on farms.
- Off-grid solar systems keep remote fence lines working.
- Designed to the species and terrain, not a one-size template.
